C9 Chevrolet Corvette Will Target Higher Performance and Keep the Dual-Clutch Gearbox
General Motors plans to make the upcoming C9 Chevrolet Corvette faster than the C8 while keeping a clear separation between entry-level trims and top-spec halo variants. Chief engineer Tony Roma also indicated that the mid-engine sports car will stick with a dual-clutch transaxle, as engineering and validating a bespoke manual gearbox would be too complex. Meanwhile, the current lineup is expanding with the hybrid all-wheel-drive Grand Sport X powered by a sixth-generation LS6 small-block V8 and a front electric motor.
