2028 Volkswagen ID.Buzz Set for SSP Platform, LFP Batteries, and Zonal Software

Volkswagen is preparing a major technical overhaul for the next ID.Buzz, moving the electric microbus from the older MEB architecture to the group's upcoming Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) alongside lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries and higher-voltage charging. Inside, the van will gain more physical buttons and a zonal software architecture developed through the RV Tech joint venture with Rivian, while design chief Andreas Mindt promises a fresh evolution of its signature two-tone styling.
