XPeng P5 was introduced as an accessible 'smart' vehicle, focused on bringing advanced autonomous driving technologies into the compact sedan segment. The model's key engineering feature was the integration of two LiDAR sensors into the front bumper, which allowed the Xpilot autonomous system to obtain high-precision 3D representations of the surrounding environment in real-time. The vehicle's architecture was based on a platform optimized to balance passenger comfort with energy consumption efficiency.
