About XPeng
Chinese electric car brand from Guangzhou, known for its in-house autonomous driving stack and a fast-moving model range.
XPeng (Chinese: 小鹏汽车, Xiaopeng) was founded in Guangzhou in 2014 and ranks among the most visible of the new generation of Chinese electric car makers, alongside NIO and Li Auto. Its first production model was the compact G3 SUV, built from 2018 to 2023, followed by the P7 sedan that established the brand look: a low fastback silhouette and a full-width light bar.
What sets XPeng apart is how much of the software it writes itself. The company develops its own XNGP driver assistance system rather than buying one in, and was among the first in China to put lidar on production cars. The range moves quickly: besides the P7 and P7+ sedans and the G6, G7 and G9 SUVs, the brand builds the full-size X9 minivan and is expanding the more affordable MONA line.
XPeng has owned the flying-vehicle company AeroHT since 2020, and since 2025 has been growing fast in export markets — roughly one in ten cars it sells now leaves China.
