Volkswagen Karmann Ghia II (Typ 34) gallery (1961–1969)

The second-generation Karmann Ghia (Typ 34) was produced from 1961 to 1969 using the larger Type 3 chassis.

The second-generation Volkswagen Karmann Ghia with body code Typ 34 (often referred to as the 'Großer Ghia') was built between 1961 and 1969. Based upon the larger Type 3 platform, the Typ 34 featured distinct angular bodylines sculpted by Sergio Sartorelli at Carrozzeria Ghia, an optional electric sunroof, and plush interior appointments.

Mechanically, it was powered by 1.5-liter and 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four pancake engines delivering 45 hp to 54 hp, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Due to its higher purchase price, production remained limited to 42,505 units, making the Typ 34 a sought-after classic car today.
