The third-generation Volkswagen Beetle (A5 / Typ 5C) premiered in April 2011 in Shanghai and New York, dropping the 'New' prefix. Styled under Walter de Silva, it adopted lower, wider, and more masculine proportions with a flattened roofline. Constructed on the PQ35 platform, body configurations were offered as a three-door hatchback and soft-top cabriolet.
The cockpit combined color-matched dashboard panels with current touchscreen tech. Engines included 1.2, 1.4, and 2.0 TSI turbos (up to 220 hp) and 1.6/2.0 TDI diesels. Notable trims included the rugged Beetle Dune crossover. Production officially concluded in Puebla, Mexico in July 2019.
