Volkswagen Atlas II gallery (2026–present)

The second generation of the full-size Volkswagen Atlas was revealed on 31 March 2026 and made its public debut at the New York International Auto Show on 3 April. It rides on the updated MQB Evo platform and is still built at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee; in China the same vehicle has been sold by the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture since 2025 under the Teramont Pro name. The bodywork is all new: the wheelbase stays at 2,980 mm while overall length grows to 5,158 mm, with a width of 1,991 mm and a height of 1,788 mm. Buyers can choose five- or seven-seat layouts, and the coupe-styled Atlas Cross Sport has left the range — the five-seat configuration replaces it.

At launch the sole engine is the 2.0-litre EA888 Evo5 turbocharged petrol four producing 282 hp and 258 lb-ft, making this the most powerful Atlas ever built. It drives through a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, 4Motion all-wheel drive is available on most trims, and Volkswagen has promised a hybrid variant for the mid-cycle update. The cabin has been redesigned from scratch: real wood trim and ambient lighting are standard, the digital instrument cluster measures 10.25 inches and the infotainment screen is 12.9 inches on the base trim or 15 inches higher up the range. New features include the Driver Experience Dial on the centre console, dual wireless charging, Nappa leather, massaging front seats and a centre airbag between the front occupants.
