The Volkswagen Amarok I (Typ 2H) launched in Buenos Aires in December 2009. Constructed as a body-on-frame mid-size pickup truck, it was manufactured in Argentina and Germany in Single Cab and Double Cab variants.
AWD systems featured selectable 4Motion or permanent Torsen 4Motion. Powertrains included 2.0 TSI petrol, 2.0 TDI/BiTDI diesels, and a 3.0 V6 TDI (up to 258 hp) linked to an 8-speed ZF automatic following the 2016 facelift.
