The Lada Vesta entered mass production in autumn 2015 at the Izhevsk production plant, marking a fundamental modernization milestone for the Russian automotive manufacturer. Built upon the proprietary Lada B/C architecture (developed under project VAZ-2180 in cooperation with Renault-Nissan Alliance engineers), the Vesta showcases distinctive X-sculpted side panels designed by Steve Mattin, an exceptionally rigid body structure, an independent front suspension with L-shaped lower arms mounted on a dedicated subframe, and precise rack-and-pinion steering. Initially offered solely as a 4-door notchback sedan, the lineup expanded in 2017 with the introduction of the Vesta SW estate, along with elevated Cross versions for both body styles boasting 203 mm of ground clearance. The range later welcomed the high-performance Vesta Sport and the factory dual-fuel Vesta CNG. Powertrain options initially included 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engines (VAZ-21129 with 106 hp), a 1.8-liter unit (VAZ-21179 with 122 hp), and the Alliance H4M/HR16 engine producing 113 hp, paired with either 5-speed manual gearboxes, a single-clutch automated manual transmission (AMT), or a Jatco continuously variable transmission (CVT). In 2022, AvtoVAZ debuted the comprehensive Vesta NG (New Generation) facelift, which introduced full LED exterior lighting, a completely overhauled cabin with soft-touch materials, a digital gauge cluster, a vertical portrait touchscreen, push-button ignition, and revised electronic safety architectures. Production moved to the primary Togliatti plant in 2023, integrating localized components, updated 1.6-liter and reworked 1.8 Evo engines, and modern CVT units across mass markets in Russia and the CIS region.
