The second generation of the subcompact lineup offering revised styling and automatic transmission options.
The second-generation Lada Kalina was introduced in 2013 as a comprehensive evolution of the small front-wheel-drive platform, carrying body codes VAZ-2192 for the hatchback and VAZ-2194 for the station wagon. The traditional sedan body was omitted to avoid internal competition with Granta, making room for the high-riding Kalina Cross alongside Kalina Sport and NFR performance variants. Exterior styling adopted sharper, more aggressive lines, modern headlights, and a redesigned front bumper, while the passenger compartment received an upgraded dashboard with an integrated touchscreen infotainment unit. Powertrain options consisted of 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engines producing 87, 98, 106, and up to 136 horsepower on the NFR model. Transmission choices expanded to include a 5-speed manual with cable drive, an automated manual gearbox (AMT), and a 4-speed Jatco torque-converter automatic. In 2018, the Kalina badge was officially phased out as its body styles were integrated into the facelifted Lada Granta family.
