The first generation of the Lada Iskra introduces a modern architecture into the manufacturer's subcompact lineup. Developed on an extensively localized iteration of the modular CMF-B-LS platform, the vehicle features enhanced structural rigidity, elevated crash safety standards, and improved ride refinement compared to the older Granta family. The suspension system retains an independent MacPherson strut setup at the front and a durable torsion-beam axle at the rear, tuned specifically to withstand demanding road conditions while maintaining predictable handling dynamics.
The generation is offered in four-door sedan and five-door wagon body styles, alongside a specialized Cross estate variant with raised ground clearance and protective plastic cladding. Powertrain offerings consist of reliable 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engines, available in both eight-valve and sixteen-valve configurations. Power is sent to the front wheels via a standard five-speed manual gearbox, a six-speed manual unit, or an automatic continuously variable transmission, delivering balanced fuel efficiency and driving comfort.
