Vauxhall Ampera I gallery (2012–2015)

The Vauxhall Ampera was marketed from 2012 to 2015 as the British-market sibling to the Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt, underpinned by GM's Delta II platform and powered by the innovative Voltec range-extended powertrain. Produced as a dedicated five-door aerodynamic hatchback with a four-seat cabin layout, the Ampera featured unique front-end styling highlighted by boomerang-shaped headlights. The drivetrain consisted of a 150 bhp primary electric drive motor paired with a 1.4-litre Ecotec four-cylinder petrol engine acting mainly as an on-board generator to supply electricity when the 16.0 kWh (later 16.5 kWh) lithium-ion battery depleted. It delivered an all-electric driving range of approximately 25 to 50 miles, with the combustion engine extending total range well beyond 300 miles. Named European Car of the Year 2012, the model introduced advanced plug-in electrified technology to the UK market, though production ceased in 2015 without a direct successor under the Vauxhall badge.
