The iconic Suzuki Samurai compact off-roader (SJ series) was produced from 1981 to 1998.
Exported globally as the Suzuki Samurai (SJ410/SJ413 series), this legendary compact off-roader was the international incarnation of the second-generation Jimny. Engineered with a heavy-duty ladder frame, solid live axles with leaf-spring suspension at both ends, and a manual part-time 4WD transfer case, the Samurai earned worldwide acclaim for extreme terrain capabilities and mechanical durability.
In North America, the Samurai was powered by a 1.3-liter G13 four-cylinder engine producing 60 to 64 hp paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. European markets also offered 1.0-liter engines. Updates in 1988 and 1995 refined interior ergonomics, dashboard layouts, and suspension spring rates.
