Suzuki Esteem I (EG/SY) gallery (1995–2002)
The Suzuki Esteem sedan and wagon (EG/SY) was produced from 1995 to 2002.
Manufactured from 1995 to 2002, the Suzuki Esteem (EG/SY chassis series, sold globally as the Baleno or Cultus Crescent) was the primary North American and Indian market designation for Suzuki's compact sedan and station wagon line. Featuring independent MacPherson strut suspension on all four wheels, the Esteem provided smooth highway dynamics and accessible maintenance.
North American specifications debuted with a 1.6-liter G16B 16-valve engine (98 hp), upgraded in 1999 to a 1.8-liter J18A DOHC engine generating 122 hp. Transmissions included a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic, alongside available all-wheel drive. A 1999 mid-lifecycle facelift introduced almond-shaped headlamps and an integrated grille.
