About this generation

First generation of the Subaru Trailseeker electric crossover featuring a 74.7 kWh battery and a 375-hp dual-motor AWD system.

The first-generation Subaru Trailseeker debuted for the 2026 model year as an elongated five-door electric crossover. Designed around utility and off-pavement capability, the vehicle features 8.5 inches of ground clearance, 31.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row (expanding to 74 cubic feet with the rear seats folded), an available 120-volt cargo outlet, and a 3,500-pound towing capacity. Roof load capacity is rated at 176 pounds in motion and 700 pounds when parked.

Propulsion is provided by two AC synchronous permanent magnet motors, each rated at 224 horsepower and 198 lb-ft of torque and integrated into a single-speed transaxle with its own inverter on each axle. Combined system output reaches 375 horsepower and 396 lb-ft of torque, propelling the crossover from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The revised symmetrical all-wheel-drive system uses front and rear acceleration sensors to manage front-to-rear and left-to-right torque splitting, paired with dual-mode X-Mode (Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud), grip control, and downhill assist control.

A 391-volt, 104-cell lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 74.7 kWh delivers an estimated range of 281 miles on standard 18-inch wheels (117 MPGe combined) or 274 miles on 20-inch wheels (114 MPGe combined). Drivers can adjust four levels of regenerative braking via steering-wheel paddles. Standard battery preconditioning and a front passenger-side NACS port support DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, replenishing the pack from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes.
