The second generation Levorg adopted the SGP architecture, debuting the 1.8-liter CB18 turbo engine and EyeSight X safety technology.
Debuting in August 2020, the second-generation Subaru Levorg (VN code) won the Japan Car of the Year title. Built on the full inner-frame Subaru Global Platform (SGP), chassis rigidity increased substantially. It launched with the new 1.8-liter CB18 lean-burn direct-injection turbo flat-four (177 hp and 300 Nm), joined later by the 2.4-liter FA24F turbo engine (275 hp) for STI Sport R trims. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
The generation premiered the EyeSight X advanced driver assist suite with satellite-guided hands-free highway driving capabilities and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. In 2023, Subaru released the raised-ride Levorg Layback variant with 200 mm ground clearance. Production continues. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
