Launched in 2007, the third-generation Impreza initially debuted as a five-door hatchback (GH code), later complemented by a four-door sedan (GE). Built on a redesigned platform with a longer wheelbase and a refined double-wishbone rear suspension, it delivered improved cabin space and ride comfort. The powertrain range included 1.5L, 2.0L, and 2.5L naturally aspirated flat-four engines, along with the debut of the 2.0-liter EE20 boxer diesel engine. A mid-cycle update in 2010 refreshed the front grille and bumper design. The generation also included wide-body WRX and WRX STI variants (GR hatchback and GV sedan) featuring 2.5-liter turbocharged engines, as well as the raised-ride Impreza XV crossover model. Global production of third-generation standard models phased out between 2011 and 2014. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort.
