SsangYong Korando I (K4) gallery (1988–1996)

The first generation of the SsangYong Korando SUV was based on licensed Jeep structures and rugged body-on-frame architectures.

The first generation SsangYong Korando traces its roots back to licensed utility vehicles originally produced by Keohwa and Dong-A before SsangYong took full control. The vehicle was built on a heavy-duty ladder frame platform featuring a part-time four-wheel-drive system and rugged suspension setups. It relied on various licensed four-cylinder diesel and gasoline engines sourced from Isuzu and Peugeot, paired with manual transmissions. The body style was strictly a utilitarian three-door off-roader with austere interior features designed for durability. It was primarily sold in South Korea and select international markets, establishing the company's footprint in the utility vehicle sector.
