A mass-produced family of rear-engine sedans, which became the last Škoda generation with this layout.

The 742 series, including the 105, 120, and 130 models, was Skoda's last major project with a rear-engine layout. The cars featured a recognizable silhouette and were offered with a wide range of gasoline engines from 1.0 to 1.3 liters. Despite the engineering quirks associated with the engine placement, the cars were valued for their reliability and simplicity. The 742 series ended the era of rear-engine Skodas, preparing the brand for the shift to front-wheel drive in the Favorit model.
