Skoda Unveils Its Largest Electric SUV Featuring Innovative Firsts

  • The Peaq is Skoda’s most spacious electric SUV, accommodating up to seven passengers.
  • Also available in a five-seat version for added versatility.
  • Options include rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
  • Features an electrochromic panoramic roof, a first for the brand.

Nearly four years after its initial concept debut, Skoda is bringing the Vision 7S into production as the Peaq, marking the company’s largest electric vehicle to date. Positioned above their existing electric models like the Enyaq, Elroq, and the forthcoming Epiq, the Peaq offers both five- and seven-seat layouts alongside an expansive cargo space.

Even though the full unveiling is scheduled for later in the year, Skoda has provided some early details. The Peaq stretches to a length of 4,874 millimeters (about 192 inches), surpassing the Kodiaq by 116 millimeters (4.5 inches). Its dedicated electric platform allows for a lengthy 2,965-millimeter (116.7 inches) wheelbase, which is 174 millimeters (6.8 inches) longer than the combustion-powered Kodiaq. Standard wheels begin at 19 inches, with options available up to 21 inches.

Measuring 1,664 millimeters (65.5 inches) tall, the Peaq stands slightly higher than its internal combustion counterpart by 5 millimeters (0.2 inches). The five-seat model offers 1,010 liters (35.6 cubic feet) of luggage space, which is 100 liters (3.5 cubic feet) more than the Kodiaq. When all seven seats are in use, the cargo capacity remains at 299 liters (10.5 cubic feet), with an additional 37 liters (1.3 cubic feet) available in the front trunk.

Battery Options and Performance

The Peaq will come equipped with two battery choices: a 63 kWh pack and a larger 91 kWh unit. The smaller battery provides a range exceeding 286 miles (460 kilometers), while the bigger pack extends range to over 373 miles (600 kilometers). Fast charging from 10% to 80% capacity takes roughly 28 minutes via DC fast chargers.

Power outputs vary with single-motor versions producing 201 hp or 282 hp, and the dual-motor top-tier model delivering 295 hp. The quickest variant accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.7 seconds. Speed is electronically limited to 112 mph (180 km/h) for the higher-powered versions, while the base model has a maximum speed of 100 mph (160 km/h).

Innovations Making Their Debut

Although the Peaq fits into the growing electric SUV segment, it introduces several firsts for Skoda. Notably, it is the brand's initial vehicle to feature windshield wipers with integrated washer nozzles, which enhance cleaning efficiency and reduce fluid consumption. Additionally, the panoramic glass roof is the largest ever installed on a Skoda and incorporates Dynamic Shade Control, an electrochromic system divided into nine sections that occupants can adjust for preferred opacity.

Another novel feature is the flush door handles that pop out electronically but can also be operated manually by pressing the front portion — a design never before seen on a Skoda. Inside, a prominent 13.6-inch vertical touchscreen running on Android stands out alongside a 10-inch digital instrument cluster.

The available Relax Package elevates comfort with massaging and ventilated seats, electrically adjustable leg rests, and headrest cushions. This package also includes Skoda’s first-ever Sonos audio system and a wellness app that offers six preset modes to optimize seat settings, climate, and ambient lighting for relaxation.

True to Skoda’s reputation for practical features, the Peaq comes equipped with handy elements like a dual wireless charging pad, electric cargo area roller shutter, and a USB port embedded in the rearview mirror designed for powering dashcams. Rear passengers in the third row get their own USB port for convenient device charging during longer trips.

Additional thoughtful touches include a ticket holder, a screen cleaning tool, and a foldable table. To assist owners, a QR code is placed on the luggage compartment side, linking to an instructional video detailing the use of various storage compartments.

Market Outlook

Skoda’s latest electric SUV seems tailored to meet the needs of large families seeking an all-electric option. However, it will face strong competition from rivals such as the Peugeot E-5008 and Korean models like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.

With electric vehicle adoption steadily increasing in Europe — where EVs captured 19.5% of the market last year and have slightly grown to 19.6% in early 2026 — Skoda’s launch of the Peaq appears well-timed to capitalize on this momentum.
