The 1000 MB revolutionized Skoda production by switching to a progressive rear-engine layout and a modern unibody chassis. The car featured rear-wheel drive and a unique-for-the-time aluminum engine block with a 1.0-liter displacement. This model became an important symbol of Czechoslovakia's industrialization, offering excellent dynamics and comfort for its class, setting the foundation for all subsequent rear-engine sedans from the brand until the late 80s.
