About this generation

New generation of the combustion-powered Macan crossover developed on Audi's PPC architecture.

The revived combustion-powered generation of the Porsche Macan, internally designated M1, was developed as part of the Sportwagenschmiede ’35 restructuring initiative. Designed to offer traditional internal combustion power alongside battery-electric alternatives, the new crossover targets core markets in North America and Europe, with assembly slated for the Leipzig manufacturing facility.

The vehicle is built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, engineered for optimized weight distribution, increased torsional rigidity, and sports-oriented handling dynamics. Built in a five-door crossover SUV body style, the M1 generation features advanced turbocharged gasoline engines as well as high-performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configurations paired with modern automatic transmissions and all-wheel drive.

Compared to earlier iterations, the transition to the PPC platform brings updated electronic network capabilities, revised chassis tuning, and improved thermal efficiency. The introduction of plug-in hybrid powertrains ensures compliance with tightening emissions regulations while preserving the high-output performance and responsive driving characteristics typical of Porsche.
