The fourth generation was based on General Motors' largest B-body and C-body platforms for full-size cars. The car was equipped with various V8 engines working in tandem with smooth automatic transmissions. The vehicle grew in size, acquiring a massive exterior and improved cabin sound insulation. The Brougham modification offered an increased level of comfort with exclusive trim options. During the production cycle, engineers adapted the powertrains to meet changing environmental requirements. The main sales market remained the North American region with an emphasis on the Canadian domestic market.
