Pontiac GTO V (V-body) gallery (2004–2006)

Revived for the 2004 model year championed by GM executive Bob Lutz, the fifth-generation Pontiac GTO was a captive import engineered and assembled by Holden in Australia based on the Monaro sports coupe on GM's rear-wheel-drive V-body architecture. It was offered exclusively as a 2+2 two-door coupe featuring fully independent front and rear suspension and a balanced weight distribution. In 2004, the car was powered by a 5.7-liter all-aluminum LS1 V8 engine producing 350 horsepower. For 2005 and 2006, the GTO received a major mechanical update featuring the larger 6.0-liter LS2 V8 generating 400 horsepower, upgraded larger brake rotors and calipers with GTO branding, a revised dual exhaust exiting on opposite sides of the bumper, and an aggressive twin-scoop hood. Transmission selections included a heavy-duty Tremec T-56 six-speed manual gearbox or a GM four-speed automatic (4L60-E in 2004, 4L65-E in 2005-2006). Sales were focused on North America.
