Introduced for 1968, the second-generation Pontiac GTO featured a curvier body riding on a shorter 112-inch wheelbase iteration of GM's A-body platform. A standout technological and design feature was the revolutionary body-colored Endura front bumper designed to absorb low-speed impacts without deformation, paired with optional hidden headlamps. Body configurations included a two-door hardtop coupe and a convertible. The standard engine remained a 400 cubic-inch (6.6L) V8 with various outputs ranging from 265 to 370 horsepower across high-performance Ram Air II, Ram Air III, and Ram Air IV specifications. For 1970, a massive 455 cubic-inch (7.5L) High Output V8 was introduced. Drivetrain options comprised heavy-duty three-speed and four-speed manual transmissions and three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatics. In 1969, Pontiac released the iconic 'The Judge' option package featuring wild graphics and standard Ram Air power.
