The first-generation NIO ES6 electric crossover SUV debuted in 2019 and remained in production until 2023, built on NIO's first-generation platform utilizing an aluminum-intensive body shell. The vehicle featured a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain offered in two distinct configurations: a standard version with two permanent magnet synchronous motors developing a total output of 435 horsepower, and a performance version combining a 218-horsepower front motor with a 326-horsepower rear induction motor for a combined system rating of 544 horsepower. Torque was transmitted via a single-speed fixed-gear reduction transmission managed by an intelligent electronic drive controller. Power was supplied by battery packs with capacities of 70, 84, or 100 kilowatt-hours, fully compatible with NIO's automated battery swapping infrastructure. The interior boasted a digital instrument cluster, an 11.3-inch portrait AMOLED central infotainment touchscreen, the NOMI AI voice assistant with an interactive head unit atop the dashboard, Nappa leather upholstery, and the NIO Pilot suite of driver assistance features. The first generation was marketed primarily in Mainland China.
