The first generation, commercialized as the Colt Galant (A50 chassis designation), debuted in December 1969. Establishing Mitsubishi's flagship passenger car line, its 'Dynawedge' aerodynamic exterior design was available in four-door sedan, two-door hardtop coupe, and five-door wagon configurations.
