MG HS I (AS23) gallery (2018–2024)
A mid-size compact crossover that served as a core global pillar for MG in Europe and international markets.
First revealed in 2018 to replace the MG GS, the first-generation MG HS (codenamed AS23) became a critical milestone in MG's global expansion. Built with an all-around independent suspension, the crossover was powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four producing 162–169 hp or a 2.0-litre turbo generating up to 231 hp, the latter offering intelligent all-wheel drive. Transmissions included a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dry/wet dual-clutch, and a 6-speed wet DCT. An electrified plug-in hybrid variant, badged eHS, combined the 1.5-litre turbo with an electric motor to output a combined 258 hp. In 2020, a sportier facelift was launched in China as the MG Pilot, which subsequently reached Europe and the UK in 2023 with a redesigned front bumper and updated LED lighting. The cabin featured soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and the MG Pilot safety suite.
