The third-generation MG 3 debuted at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, representing a major technological leap for the subcompact lineup. Underpinned by SAIC's extensively re-engineered modular platform, the car features a noticeably stiffer structure, widened tracks, and enhanced acoustic insulation. The headline feature is the self-charging 'Hybrid+' system, pairing an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a potent electric motor, a 1.83 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a dedicated three-speed automatic gearbox, generating a combined 194 hp. Traditional naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol variants paired with manual or CVT gearboxes are also offered in select developing markets. Visually, the third-gen MG 3 takes styling cues from the MG4 and Cyberster, incorporating a sharp shark-nose front fascia, sculpted side profiles, and modern dual digital cabin screens with the MG Pilot driver assistance suite across global European, Australian, and Latin American markets.
