The sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W210) launched in May 1995, revolutionizing Mercedes' design language with its iconic four-oval headlight front fascia. Available as a four-door sedan (W210) and five-door estate (S210), the model offered expanded interior space and introduced progressive safety features including side airbags, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, and the SmartKey electronic ignition system.

Mechanical innovations were substantial across the lineup: the W210 introduced new modular DOHC M112 V6 and M113 V8 gasoline engines alongside groundbreaking Common Rail Direct Injection (CDI) turbo-diesel units (OM611, OM612, OM613). Second-generation 4MATIC all-wheel-drive versions featured an advanced electronic traction system (4ETS) integrated with the 5G-Tronic automatic transmission. AMG high-performance models culminated in the iconic E 55 AMG, powered by a hand-assembled 354 hp naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V8 engine. A comprehensive 1999 mid-cycle refresh updated front and rear bumper aprons, integrated side turn signal indicators into the exterior rearview mirrors, added standard window curtain airbags, and updated the interior dashboard instrument cluster with a multifunction steering wheel display.
