Lincoln Town Car III (FN145) gallery (1997–2011)

Debuting for the 1998 model year, the third-generation Lincoln Town Car embraced smooth, curved body lines while maintaining its rugged Panther body-on-frame foundation. In 2000, Lincoln introduced the extended-wheelbase Town Car L, adding six inches of rear legroom to cater to executive livery operators. Under the hood, the 4.6-liter SOHC Modular V8 produced between 205 and 239 hp, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The model received extensive engineering updates for 2003, including a hydroformed frame, rack-and-pinion steering to replace the recirculating ball setup, redesigned suspension geometry, and a more formal upright front grille. The final Town Car rolled off the St. Thomas Assembly line in Ontario, Canada, in August 2011, marking the end of the traditional full-size American rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan era. The model was marketed primarily across North America and the Middle East.
