The first generation of the Freelander 8 was officially introduced in 2026 by the Chery Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR) joint venture. The SUV measures 5,118 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,898 mm in height, riding on a 3,040 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is rated at 220 mm. The interior is available in five-seat and six-seat configurations. Chassis highlights include a dual-chamber air suspension system and active rear-wheel steering that delivers an agile turning radius of just 5.15 meters.
The vehicle is powered by an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain featuring a 1.5-liter gasoline generator and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system generating a combined 610 kW (818 hp) and 813 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.6 seconds. A 60.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) traction battery pack enables an electric-only driving range of up to 310 km under the CLTC test cycle.
