The first generation of the Isuzu Impulse sports car, known in other markets as the Piazza, was produced with rear-wheel drive.
The first generation of the Isuzu Impulse sports car, known globally as the Isuzu Piazza, was designed based on a concept car created by the famous Italdesign studio led by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The rear-wheel-drive vehicle combined the futuristic design of a three-door coupe and hatchback body style with advanced engineering solutions for its time. The engine lineup included naturally aspirated and turbocharged gasoline engines ranging from 2.0 to 2.3 liters in displacement, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. The suspension in many modifications was tuned with the participation of specialists from the British company Lotus, providing excellent handling characteristics. The model was exported to the markets of Japan, North America, and several other regions, enjoying steady popularity among enthusiasts of dynamic and affordable cars. Over the years of production, the car underwent minor exterior and interior updates multiple times, receiving new powertrain options and upgraded brake systems to enhance overall performance.
