Isuzu Fargo I gallery (1980–1995)

The first generation of the Isuzu Fargo light commercial vehicle went into production in 1980 in van and pickup body styles.

The first generation of the Isuzu Fargo was introduced in December 1980 as a compact delivery van and light truck with a cab-over or semi-cab-over engine layout beneath the front seats. The vehicle was developed taking into account the needs of the domestic Japanese market, but quickly gained popularity worldwide, being exported under the names Isuzu WFR, Bedford Midi, Holden Shuttle, and Chevrolet WFR. The powertrain lineup included 1.6 and 1.8-liter gasoline engines, as well as economical diesel engines of 1.8, 2.0, and a later 2.4-liter variant. Buyers were offered manual transmissions or rare for-the-class three- and four-speed automatic transmissions, as well as rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Throughout its lifecycle, the model was updated several times: in 1986, the first restyling took place with changes to the headlights and interior, and in 1991, an upgraded engine range and improved passive safety features appeared. Production of this generation in Japan continued until 1995.
