Isuzu Amigo II gallery (1998–2000)
The second generation of the SUV returned to the market in 1998 after a hiatus.
This generation maintained a robust ladder-frame chassis and a two-door configuration with a removable soft top, while adopting completely refreshed styling and an updated interior shared with the four-door Rodeo. The powertrain range introduced a 2.2-liter four-cylinder base engine alongside a potent 3.2-liter V6 producing over 200 horsepower, mated to manual or automatic gearboxes. Compared to its predecessor, it offered significantly improved ride comfort, enhanced safety equipment, and modern conveniences like advanced four-wheel drive controls. The primary target market was North America, where it appealed to lifestyle-oriented buyers seeking open-air utility. Shortly after, following a 2000 update, the vehicle was renamed Isuzu Rodeo Sport to better align with the brand's lineup.
