The first generation of the compact three-door Isuzu Amigo SUV was produced from 1989 to 1994 with hardtop or soft-top body styles.
The vehicle was built on a modified frame platform derived from the Isuzu Faster pickup truck with a shortened wheelbase. The body style featured a two-door layout with either a folding soft top or a removable hardtop over the rear compartment. The engine lineup included 2.3-liter and 2.6-liter gasoline engines paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic, available in rear-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive configurations.
