The second-generation Hyundai Accent (LC chassis) debuted in late 1999 with a more aerodynamic silhouette, expanded passenger dimensions, and refined noise insulation. Available in four-door sedan, three-door hatchback, and five-door hatchback configurations, the LC series achieved immense global commercial success. Local manufacturing and CKD assembly took place across South Korea, Russia (TagAZ), India, and Egypt.

Engine offerings included 1.3-liter, 1.5-liter 12V/16V Alpha engines, and a 1.6-liter Alpha II engine featuring CVVT variable valve timing delivering 105 hp, alongside a 1.5-liter three-cylinder CRDi turbodiesel. A 2003 facelift (LC2) revised the front clip styling with wider headlights, restyled grilles, and refreshed interior door cards.
