The fifth-generation Hyundai Accent (HC chassis) debuted at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto in February 2017. Designed as a four-door sedan, it grew slightly longer and wider while adopting a prominent cascading front grille design. The chassis structure benefited from an extensive 54.5% application of advanced high-strength steel, maximizing torsional rigidity and crash safety protection.
Power came from 1.4-liter Kappa (100 hp) and 1.6-liter Gamma or Smartstream G1.6 engines (up to 123 hp), paired with six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, or Intelligent Variable Transmissions (IVT). A 2020 facelift refreshed the front mesh grille, LED headlamp optics, and introduced an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.
