About this generation

The second-generation Honda Pilot was produced from 2008 to 2015, featuring a boxy, rugged exterior aesthetic.

The second-generation Honda Pilot (YF3/YF4) launched in 2008, introducing angular, truck-like exterior styling. Dimensions and wheelbase grew to expand legroom for third-row passengers and cargo volume. Body structure utilized 52 percent high-strength steel for enhanced crash performance.

Power was delivered by a 3.5-liter J35Z4 i-VTEC V6 engine (249–257 hp) featuring advanced Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) capable of operating on 3, 4, or 6 cylinders. A 5-speed automatic transmission transferred power via front-wheel drive or VTM-4 AWD. A 2011 refresh introduced a refined 3-bar front grille, quieter cabin soundproofing, and updated center stack electronics.
