The first generation Haval H9 full-size body-on-frame SUV was manufactured from 2014 through 2024, serving as the brand's flagship vehicle with high off-road capabilities.
The flagship first generation Haval H9 utilized a robust ladder-frame chassis with independent double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link solid rear axle. Engine options consisted of a 2.0-litre GW4C20 turbocharged petrol engine producing between 218 and 245 horsepower alongside a 2.0-litre GW4D20T twin-turbodiesel outputting 190 horsepower. Initially paired with a 6-speed automatic, post-2017 models received an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The BorgWarner Torque-on-Demand all-wheel-drive system featured a low-range transfer case along with electronic front and rear differential locks. An All-Terrain selector adjusted vehicle electronics across various road conditions. The luxurious seven-seat cabin boasted Nappa leather seating with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, three-zone climate control, and an Infinity premium sound system. Off-road credentials were complemented by CRAWL Control off-road cruise capability and Tank Turn tight maneuverability. Manufacturing took place in China and at the Tula plant in Russia.
