Haval H5 I gallery (2010–2020)
The first generation Haval H5 body-on-frame SUV was manufactured from 2010 to 2020, earning a reputation for off-road durability and mechanical simplicity.
The original Haval H5 was a traditional body-on-frame SUV derived from the Great Wall Hover series. Its rugged chassis combined a ladder frame with a solid rear axle and independent front double-wishbone suspension. Petrol engines encompassed naturally aspirated 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre Mitsubishi units alongside a 2.0-litre 4G63T turbo engine. Diesel options were comprised of 2.0-litre GW4D20 and 2.5-litre GW2.5TCI engines. Power was routed through a 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Part-Time four-wheel-drive system included a two-speed transfer case with low-range gearing. Inside, the cabin offered automatic climate control, leather trim, rear parking sensors, and a basic infotainment unit. Off-road capability was backed by a 200 mm ground clearance, favorable approach and departure angles, and sturdy underbody protection. Assembly occurred in China and Russia for regional distribution.
