Great Wall Steed I gallery (2006–2011)

The first-generation Great Wall Wingle, also designated as Wingle 3 and sold as the Steed in Western markets, was produced from 2006 to 2011. Succeeding the Deer model line, the Wingle presented a rounded aerodynamic front design inspired by contemporary global pickups. Constructed on a steel ladder-frame platform, it paired a leaf-sprung solid rear axle with an independent torsion-bar front suspension. Engine options consisted of a 2.2-liter petrol unit producing 110 horsepower, a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi-derived petrol engine delivering 128 horsepower, and a 2.8-liter common-rail turbodiesel engine producing 95 horsepower. All powertrains mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Transmission layouts included rear-wheel drive or a part-time four-wheel-drive system featuring push-button electronic control for the BorgWarner transfer case. Offered in single-cab and double-cab configurations, interior features included air conditioning, electric power windows, ABS, dual front airbags, and audio connectivity. The Wingle 3 marked a milestone as one of the earliest Chinese-built pickups exported to European countries including Italy and the United Kingdom.
