The first-generation Ford Ranchero EV is built on Ford's Universal Electric Vehicle Platform, designed as a dedicated architecture for entry-level electric trucks and SUVs. Positioned as an affordable midsize electric pickup with a target base price of approximately $30,000, the vehicle is offered exclusively in a four-door crew cab configuration. Exterior styling features observed on development prototypes include distinctive, sharply raked A-pillars.

The powertrain lineup includes both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Base rear-wheel-drive variants utilize a single permanent-magnet electric motor on the rear axle, whereas all-wheel-drive models add a front-axle induction motor. The vehicle offers several traction battery pack capacities, allowing customers to choose between lower acquisition costs and extended driving range. The architecture supports automated battery preconditioning when routing to fast-charging stations.

In-car technology is centered around an integrated Apple Maps navigation system via the MapKit for Automotive SDK, running natively without requiring an iPhone while retaining full Apple CarPlay support. The system incorporates real-time EV telemetry, dynamic range monitoring, and charger availability tracking. In addition, road-level cartographic data is utilized by Ford's Latitude AI team to power next-generation BlueCruise hands-free driving assistance.
