A mid-size body-on-frame plug-in hybrid SUV built on BYDs DMO off-road architecture with six hundred eighty-seven horsepower.

The Bao 5 mid-size body-on-frame SUV, also marketed as the Leopard 5, launched serial production in twenty twenty-three as the pioneer model of the Fangchengbao brand. Constructed on BYDs specialized DMO Super Hybrid platform, it features a rugged ladder-frame chassis with a longitudinally mounted engine layout. The plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs a one-point-five-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with front and rear electric motors to generate a combined output of six hundred eighty-seven horsepower. The SUV is equipped with three differential locks and the option of DiSus-P active hydraulic suspension for adjustable ride height. A thirty-one point eight kilowatt-hour Blade battery is integrated directly into the frame using cell-to-chassis technology, providing around one hundred twenty kilometers of pure electric driving and a total range exceeding one thousand kilometers. The exterior embraces a boxy off-road design with a side-hinged tailgate and external spare tire. Inside, the cabin combines triple displays with aviation-inspired control switches. It is positioned as a professional off-roader balancing extreme terrain capability with daily refinement. The vehicle delivers an uncompromised balance of high build quality, state-of-the-art technology, and long-term operating reliability.
