The second generation with the T250 index appeared in 2005 and featured a heavily updated design.

The second-generation model with the T250 index was introduced in 2005 at the Shanghai Auto Show, representing a major modernization of the T200 platform. In South Korea, the sedan of this generation was sold as the Daewoo Gentra, while the hatchback later received the Gentra X name, and in export markets the car was predominantly marketed under the Chevrolet Aveo brand. The exterior design was completely redesigned with the participation of PATAC, featuring a new front end, modified window lines, and improved cabin sound insulation. The engine lineup consisted of petrol engines ranging from 1.2, 1.4, to 1.6 liters with manual and automatic transmissions. Production of this series at main manufacturing sites concluded in 2011, making way for the next generation.
