The fifth-generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500 introduces a fully redesigned iteration of GM's core full-size pickup family. Retaining a rugged body-on-frame platform engineered for demanding work and daily capability, the next-generation truck features updated body geometry, enhanced high-strength steel chassis construction, and a comprehensively modern cabin environment designed to support heavy hauling, commercial tasks, and lifestyle driving.

The standout highlight of this generation is the introduction of General Motors' sixth-generation Small Block V8 engine architecture. Replacing the longstanding 5.3-liter V8 is a newly developed 5.7-liter L76 V8 generating 402 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, equipped with dual port and direct fuel injection and optimized for maximum towing capacity of up to 13,700 pounds. At the top of the range, the previous 6.2-liter engine is superseded by a 6.6-liter L78 V8 producing 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque.

Compared to the outgoing fourth-generation (T1XX) platform, the redesigned Silverado delivers substantial power gains of up to 61 horsepower, elevated payload capacities reaching up to 2,170 pounds, and a re-engineered intake and airflow management system for superior overall efficiency and thermal capability under heavy loads.
