The fifth-generation Chevrolet Silverado debuted for the 2027 model year, built upon an extensively evolved body-on-frame architecture derived from GM's T1 truck platform. The chassis incorporates revised structural bracing, updated suspension geometry, and optimized frame rigidity designed to enhance ride composure, payload capacity, and towing stability. The model is available exclusively as a pickup truck with three primary cab formats: two-door Regular Cab, extended Double Cab, and four-door Crew Cab, offered in combination with short, standard, and long bed dimensions.

The powertrain lineup undergoes a major transition with the debut of GM's next-generation small-block V8 family, featuring a new 5.7-liter V8 replacing the outgoing 5.3-liter unit and a 6.6-liter V8 replacing the 6.2-liter engine. The 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four and the 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six turbodiesel remain in the lineup. A notable engineering development on the new 5.7L and 6.6L V8 engines is the total elimination of the conventional mechanical oil dipstick, replaced by an electronic oil-level sensor that reports data directly to the driver display. The four-cylinder and turbodiesel powertrains retain traditional dipsticks.

Compared to the fourth-generation Silverado (T1XX), the 2027 truck introduces a fully overhauled vehicle electrical and software architecture, next-generation infotainment displays, and redesigned under-hood packaging. Structural updates and new powertrain thermal management configurations distinguish this generation from its predecessor, maintaining mechanical capability while pushing digital vehicle management further into the truck segment.
