The second-generation BYD Tang SUV has been in production since 2018, featuring Wolfgang Egger Dragon Face design and a range of ICE, PHEV, and BEV powertrains.
The second-generation BYD Tang mid-size crossover SUV entered production in 2018 and remains a core model in the lineup. Styled under the guidance of lead designer Wolfgang Egger, it introduced the iconic Dragon Face design language with sharp LED lighting and a sculpted five-door SUV body available in 5-, 6-, or 7-seat seating configurations. Powertrains originally included internal combustion petrol engines (2.0L turbo, produced until 2021), alongside plug-in hybrid models (Tang DM, DM-i, DM-p) and the pure electric Tang EV. Electric variants utilize BYD e-Platform 3.0 technology equipped with Blade Battery units ranging from 86.4 kWh to 108.8 kWh, delivering a CLTC electric driving range of over 600 kilometers. Hybrid models pair a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter turbo engine with electric motors via E-CVT or 6-speed dual-clutch transmissions. Interior features include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen running the DiLink interface, a digital instrument panel, ambient cabin lighting, and the DiPilot driver assistance suite. The second-generation Tang is sold globally across European markets, Brazil, and Scandinavia.
