Buick Royaum I (WL) gallery (2005–2006)
A flagship executive full-size sedan developed for the Chinese market based on the Australian Holden Caprice.
The Buick Royaum was a full-size luxury executive sedan produced from 2005 to 2006 exclusively for the Chinese market. It was a badge-engineered version of the Australian-built Holden Caprice and Statesman (WL series), exported from Australia to China by General Motors. Built on GM's rear-wheel-drive V-body platform with a long wheelbase and fully independent suspension, the Royaum delivered high ride comfort and rear-seat legroom. Power came from two naturally aspirated GM Alloytec High Feature V6 gasoline engines: an entry-level 2.8-liter V6 producing around 210 hp and a range-topping 3.6-liter V6 generating 258 hp. Both powertrains were mated exclusively to a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift capability. The cabin featured premium leather upholstery, real wood accents, individual rear-seat entertainment screens, and multi-zone climate control. Production of the Royaum concluded in 2006, and it was subsequently succeeded by the Buick Park Avenue built on GM's newer Zeta platform.
