Buick Invicta II gallery (1961–1963)

The second generation Buick Invicta was manufactured from 1961 through the 1963 model year, transitioning to a heavily revised GM B-body platform with an updated X-frame architecture. Stylistically, the car departed sharply from the extreme tailfin era, presenting cleaner lines, sculpted bodysides, and modern styling cues. Available body variants included a two-door hardtop coupe, four-door hardtop, pillared sedan, Estate Wagon, and a two-door convertible. Under the hood, the standard powertrain remained the robust 6.6-liter 401 cu in Nailhead V8 producing 325 horsepower, mated to an automatic Turbine Drive transmission. In 1962, Buick introduced the sporty Invicta Wildcat sub-series, featuring bucket seats and a 330-horsepower version of the V8, which proved so successful that the Wildcat became a standalone model line. By the 1963 model year, the Invicta lineup was reduced strictly to the Estate Wagon before the nameplate was discontinued in North America.
