Buick Cascada I gallery (2016–2019)

The Buick Cascada made its North American debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show and went on sale for the 2016 model year, becoming the first convertible from Buick since the Reatta ceased production in 1991. The vehicle was essentially a rebadged and federalized version of the European Opel Cascada, manufactured by General Motors at the Gliwice assembly plant in Poland. Built on the GM Delta II platform, the Cascada featured a specialized HiPer Strut front suspension designed to reduce torque steer and improve handling composure, alongside a rear torsion beam with a Watts linkage. Power came solely from a 1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injected Ecotec inline-four gasoline engine producing 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque (reaching 221 lb-ft via an overboost function). The engine was paired exclusively with a six-speed Hydra-Matic 6T45 automatic transmission routing drive to the front wheels. The multi-layer acoustically insulated fabric soft top could be raised or lowered electro-hydraulically in 17 seconds at vehicle speeds of up to 31 mph. In 2017, Buick introduced the Sport Touring trim with unique styling accents, and the model was officially discontinued following the 2019 model year.
